Our Clueless President

President George W. Bush still offers absolutely no leadership to our country but occasionally he provides some much needed comic relief. Today in a front page article from The Associated Press published in The Greenville News there was this little gem, "President Bush urged Americans on Monday to cut back on unnecessary travel to make up for fuel shortages caused by Hurricane Rita. (next sentence) He prepared to take his "seventh" trip to the Gulf Coast....If it makes sense for the citizen out there to curtail nonessential travel, it darn sure makes sense for federal employees," Bush said.

Clearly since our esteemed President has never worked a day in his entire life he doesn't consider himself a federal employee nor does he consider his seventh trip to the Gulf Coast via Air Force One with his entire entourage of aides and reporters in tow, non-essential travel. What a complete and utter clueless individual. He still doesn't get it and there still isn't anyone around him in the White House that's smart enough or strong enough to clue him in.

Last night on the Daily Show (with my heart throb Jon Stewart) White House mouthpiece Scott McClellen was shown telling reporters that conserving energy was a priority for President Bush from "day one." Stewart then showed a clip taken from a White House press briefing from 2001, the White House spokesperson shrugged off a question about energy conservation and defended SUV's as an "American way of life." Stewart went on to say that 'you tell the truth one time and it comes back to bite you on the ass.' Damn that video tape, it's been biting the Bush administration on the ass on a regular basis these days.

President Bush can't even say the words energy conservation without gagging. He's spent the last 6 years bending over and feeding money to big oil companies so when middle class and working class people go broke this winter trying to stay warm it may cause them to rethink their support of that nice looking guy from Texas who talks about God so much. It's going to be a long cold winter and people in the north and Midwest will have to decide whether to eat or stay warm because home heating oil prices have just begun to climb and there's no end in sight. So my advice to you is park the SUV, stock up on sweaters and vote.
