Mainstream Medias Love Affair With McCain-A New Hampshire Prediction

Sometimes I feel like I’m living in a parallel universe, one in which none of my feelings and beliefs are reflected in the media. I’m currently puzzled over the mainstream media’s love affair with Senator John McCain. The man who sold his soul to the devil (George W. Bush) to reach the White House is reportedly “surging” in New Hampshire. Despite his extremely unpopular views on Iraq, independents in New Hampshire, reportedly still love McCain. McCain said last week on Meet the Press that, “it would be fine with him” if the U.S. military stayed in Iraq for a “hundred years” or even a “million years.” Even though 59% of the American public want a time table for withdrawal, the vast majority according to Gallup believe the war in Iraq was a mistake and 66% of likely voters in New Hampshire want their U.S. Senators to “fund the safe and orderly exit of U.S. troops over a 12-month period.” (Lake, Snell Perry Survey of NH Voters, June 19, 2007)

John McCain stubbornly and unbelievably continues to advocate for pressing forward in Iraq, to achieve a “victory.” A victory by the way which McCain has never really defined so it may actually take a “million years” to achieve.

Yes, sir if you want a guy who will follow his own beliefs even though the vast majority of the American public disagrees, and you can’t vote for George W. Bush this year…your man is definitely John McCain. How can they even call this guy a “straight talker” or speak of his integrity when he has thrown away any shred of integrity by now milking his status as a POW in TV and print ads and shamelessly talks of achieving victory in a war that’s already cost us thousands of lives and an estimated $15 billion a month! John McCain apparently believes that it’s perfectly acceptable for Iraqi’s to continue to die in this war, the American public only cares about U.S. casualties, “The point is it’s American casualties. We’ve got to get American’s off the frontlines, have the Iraqis as part of the strategy, take over more and more of the responsibilities, and then I don’t think Americans are concerned if we’re there for one hundred years or a thousand years or ten thousand years.”

According to the Center for American Progress, Even with the reduced troop levels that McCain foresees, “total spending for U.S. operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and other activities related to the war on terrorism would amount to between $1.2 trillion and $1.7 trillion for fiscal years 2001 through 2017, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). The “higher debt and interest costs, is going to cause severe economic dislocation, which are exacerbated by war costs,” noted CBO Director Peter Orszag.

Tomorrow the New Hampshire voters will rebuke John McCain and the rest of the warmongers…watch and see, mainstream media be damned.
