Karma is a Bitch

Last night on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart some video of John McCain at a town hall meeting in 2000 was played and I couldn’t believe my eyes or ears. A young woman complained to John McCain about her father, a doctor who was forced into a higher tax bracket because of his professional achievement and presidential candidate and straight talker John McCain very patiently explained to this young woman the responsibilities of those who earn more to pay more in taxes. This is the same man who has vilified Barack Obama and Joe Biden for justifying a higher tax bracket for the wealthy and accused them of Socialism because they dare to defend the practice of spreading the wealth by taxation. I was dumbfounded to think that the man running for president today in 2008 was once a plain spoken, straight talking man of principals. John McCain has sold his soul to the GOP devil to win the presidency and I’m very saddened for him. He says that he would rather ‘lose an election than lose a war’ but he seems perfectly willing to lose his reputation for frankness and sincerity to win this election.

I believe that John McCain’s time was 2000. He was the better candidate in the field, but he fell to the dirty tricks of Karl Rove and Tucker Eskew and now those two men who smeared him and his family are on his payroll and among his closest advisors. That’s just plain sick. Meagan McCain was so angry about the smear campaign waged against her father in the 2000 presidential election that she voted for John Kerry in 2004. She’s holding a grudge but John McCain has forgiven those who trespassed against him because he is so desperate to be president. That’s just sad. I personally can’t imagine wanting anything so bad that I would embrace those who trod upon my good name and my wife and children.

Now we are learning that all those stupid things that the Republicans accuse the Democrats of being or subscribing to apply to them. Namely the label of elitist that Karl Rove and others have tried to pin on Barack Obama. Rove described Obama as the cocky guy at the country club who thinks he’s better and smarter than everyone else. I’ve got news for you Karl and John, if the Republican National Committee spends $150,000 on clothes and accessories for your vice presidential candidate at Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus they you are officially elitist and stupid.http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1008/14805.html

I mean let’s get real here. Michelle Obama appeared on The View wearing a $148 dress from White House/Black Market. Hello! Now I understand what conservative columnist Katherine Parker was talking about on Stephen Colbert’s show when she mentioned how expensively attired Sarah Palin was these days.

All of the Karl Rovian tricks seem to be backfiring these days and I couldn’t be happier. The GOP is in disarray how wonderful. Most of the old guard seems confused by the change in climate. Charges of anti-Americanism onthe behalf ofliberals don’t seem to be resonating with the voting public this year. With our 401K’s plummeting in value, jobs in jeopardy and the economy in recession, voters have soured on the politics of hate. Unfortunately that’s all the GOP has to offer at this point. No plan, no hope, no change just hate, division, negativity and scare tactics.

It’s about karma people. John McCain was and is a very good man. An American hero. George W. Bush and Karl Rove tarnished that reputation in the name of winning an election. Instead of learning from this experience, John McCain has sought to duplicate Bush’s strategy and success employing the very same people who victimized him and his family. When he loses this election what will John McCain be left with…nothing but regret.
