GOP Runs Scared Turns Angry

I think the conservatives are running scared. I’ve been experiencing the most angry backlash recently from the Republican/conservatives via my website and in other venues that I’m beginning to feel that the fear that Obama is going to run away with this election is truly getting to them. Their longest servicing member in the Senate ( Ted Stevens of Alaska) is indicted, clearly on his way to a criminal conviction and McCain just keeps stumbling along. So fear and anger follow. They seem to hate being reminded of the facts that the GOP ruined our country since taking charge of the House, Senate and Presidency 7 and half long painful years ago. They suck at governing and this has been proven over and over. They can win elections but they get drunk with power and money and screw things up. Since they can’t take responsibility even though they like to talk about being responsible and the current political climate intrudes on their mindset some get upset enough to lash out at the messenger.

For those who say I can’t stand an opposing view…I would say I’m not against a differing opinion, but could you stick to the point and avoid personal attacks? I enjoy focused discussion of facts, not vitriol. I was a member of the debate team in high school and college so I can take debating over a point and have done so on numerous occasions but I was trained to avoid conjecture and personal attacks, focusing on facts.

Forgive me if I seem a tad burnt out about the GOP and their followers but I’m in the midst of reading “The Prosecution of George W. Bush For Murder” by Vince Bugliosi. The career prosecutor responsible for jailing Charles Manson and company makes a very convincing case for not just impeachment of this president but criminal prosecution. There is no absolutely no doubt in my mind that the Iraq war was trumped up, unnecessary and criminal. Someone must pay for this pre-emptive war and I vote for the man on top, the ever arrogant, irresponsible frat boy turned president George W. Bush.

After reading 150 pages of this book, and having lived through the farce that was the impeachment of Bill Clinton, I beg of you, where the hell is the outrage? Why aren’t people rioting in the streets after an unnecessary pre-emptive war that stole the lives of more than 4,000 of our citizens, more than 100,000 Iraqi’s, crippled hundreds of thousands of Iraqi’s and Americans for life, destroyed an entire country, incited more recruits to terrorist organizations, diverted precious time, attention and money away from finding and destroying our real enemy Osama bin Laden, and crippled our economy. Where the hell is the outrage. The war was supposedly about the threat posed by Saddam in Iraq, when that turned out to be a total lie (and yes, if you read the record, CIA and other agencies and individuals documented the unlikely nature of WMD’s in Iraq well before the war as did UN weapons inspectors on the ground), Bush and his cronies simply shifted their motive from WMD’s to liberating the Iraqi people. Well…traditionally you can’t really pick and choose who to liberate and launch regime change on but if you could I would vote for N. Korea, since they are starving but…this administration chose to ‘liberate’ Iraq. OK, so now they are liberated, can we go home?

I don’t know what’s happening in their conservative culture since I can’t bring myself to listen to Rush Limbaugh or watch Fox News but…I’m telling you they are scared. Obama is articulate, smart, good looking and savvy. Their guy is old, stale, hooked to Bush and just plain past his prime.

The other night Jon Stewart showed some video of McCain during an interview with a fly resting on his cheek…he said if you took the shot wide you could see vultures circling…this and so much more makes them  scared and angry. What a combination.

See ya in November!

According to Roxanne:"I think the conservatives are running scared. I’ve been experiencing the most angry backlash recently from the Republican/conservatives via my website and in other venues that I’m beginning to feel that the fear that Obama is going to run away with this election is truly getting to them."

Sorry, Roxanne, but I'm afraid the "angry backlash" you've been experiencing on your website recently has a lot more to do with your censorship of opposing points of view than anything about this election. When you want to play fair instead of playing big brother, you'll print those comments. Until then, I really can't see how anyone might take you seriously.

And by the way, I hope you're enjoying reading “The Prosecution of George W. Bush For Murder” by Vince Bugliosi. Especially when you consider the fact that Bugliosi is a card-carrying conspiracy theorist who once played the part of prosecutor in an unscripted 21-hour television trial of Lee Harvey Oswald. The man obviously has a lot of time on his hands. And so do you if you're reading such trash. Perhaps, if you ever choose to open your mind to opposing points of view, you might try "The Reagan Diaries" -- an actual log of the diary he penned every day he was in office. Perhaps it might help you'll discover how this great man overcame the one-term misery of the Jimmy Carter presidency, reinvented Carter's appalling economy and managed to tear down the iron curtain in the process.

Do you actually think the emperor with no clothes (your Mr. Obama) is cut from the same cloth? No, no, no, dear Roxanne. I'm sorry, but I'm afraid Mr. Obama is cut from the same cloth as your beloved Jimmy Carter -- who also promised change.

And speaking of change --

So far, the Obama Messiah has jettisoned his position on a timetable for troop withdrawal in Iraq, campaign finance reform, telecom accountability (FISA), NAFTA renegotiation, gun control, late-term abortion, Jeremiah Wright and his own grandmother.

The fact is, Obama is looking more and more like an ordinary politician each day. And it's only July. Sorry, Roxanne, but this is change I can’t believe in. By November, your Messiah look sillier than Michael Dukakis himself. See you then!

BTW, did I say anything here that's worthy of your censorship? I think not. But we'll see.

Dear Terri,
Sounds like you have lots of time on your hands too!
I prefer to read books actually written by the author, rather than ghost written.
See ya in November Terri!
Cheers,
Roxanne

Errr, don't know how to break this you, Roxanne, but "The Reagan Diaries" weren't ghost written. They are an actual diary written by Ronald Reagan during his eight years in office. There was no other writer. Thus, the word "Diary."

"After reading 150 pages of this book, and having lived through the farce that was the impeachment of Bill Clinton, I beg of you, where the hell is the outrage?"

Perhaps Mr. Clinton should not have lied under oath. That way there would have been no impeachment. There also would have been no impeachment if he hadn't been caught in that lie. But fortunately for those of us who seek the truth, he WAS caught in that lie when Monica revealed that he had left his DNA on her blue dress. Otherwise, you can bet your bottom dollar that the sanctimonious Mr. Clinton would be lying about to this day. What a great president.

The fact is, Saddam WAS a threat. He had begun nuclear and chemical weapons programs and had, in fact, actually used chemical weapons to kill thousands of Kurdish men, women and children. Yes, he dismantled these programs when the inspectors started closing in, but did not admit this publicly because he wanted his neighbors, particularly Iran, to think he still had them -- despite the threat of war. But today, these are all moot points, because during Saddam's incarceration, he freely admitted to a CIA plant that he had every intention of reconstituting these programs as soon as the inspectors left. In fact, 60 minutes did a feature story on this startling admission not too long ago. So it was NOT a "lie", Roxanne. Bush made the right judgment. Saddam WAS a threat and I am glad to see this monster finally gone from the world stage.

I replied to you yesterday, Roxanne, regarding your reply to a comment I made. In response to my suggestion that you try reading "The Regan Diaries," you said "I prefer to read books actually written by the author, rather than ghost written," Here's what I wrote back:

Errr... I don't know how to break this to you, Roxanne, but "The Reagan Diaries" weren't ghostwritten. They were written by Ronald Reagan each day of his eight-year term. Thus, the word "Diary."

However, you did not publish my reply. May I ask why? My comments did not contain any "vitriol" or "conjecture" and they certainly weren't a "personal attack." So once again, Roxanne, I ask you -- why did you refuse to publish my comments?
