Random Thoughts About Mark Sanford
Now that we know Mark Sanford cheated on his wife, I want to know who leaked the e-mails to The State Newspaper and further more I want to know why The State didn’t try harder to break this story. They were sent e-mails documenting an affair from two legitimate e-mail addresses and they didn’t do anything besides send a message and wait for a reply? That just defies reason. I think it speaks to how cowed the media is in general and even more so in Republican dominated South Carolina. Never the less, kudos to reporter Gina Smith and The State for tracking Sanford down at the airport and finally breaking the story. Smith by the way did an excellent job as a guest last night on The Rachel Maddow Show.
Editorial Comment in response to Greenville Journal-Is Waterboarding Torture
I wrote this editorial opinion column in response to a recent column in The Greenville Journal writtend by publisher Doug Greenlaw. There are so many things wrong with Doug Greenlaw’s column “Is Water boarding Torture?” in the May 29th edition of The Greenville Journal; I scarcely know where to begin. My first problem is with the title of the column, “The Middle Ground.” Mr. Greenlaw’s opinions are so far to the right I’ve never found the middle ground or read any evidence of a moderate opinion in any of his columns. It would be refreshing to hear a moderate, balanced view point but I don’t hold out much hope.
My Bonnaroo Adventure
For the fourth year in a row I attended Bonnaroo music festival in Manchester, TN. This annual outdoor music festival attracts between 70 and 90,000 music lovers from all over the country. This year Bonnaroo headliners included Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Phish, Merle Haggard, Booker T, Nine Inch Nails and the legendary Al Green. The beauty of Bonnaroo is that there is so much music that there is something for everyone to love. The kids (teens to twenties) were into Wilco, The Beastie Boys, Snoop Dog, The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s , MGMT and Public Enemy.
