Progressives to Obama-Lead Like You're in Charge!
Just when you think things in the world can’t get any crazier, they do. This hysteria over President Obama’s speech to public school kids was unbelievable. You have to laugh about it…and fortunately lots of people are creating fun ways for us to poke fun at the hysterical conservatives http://zaiusnation.blogspot.com/2009/09/hypnobama.html
To the Tea Party People
You didn’t get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed.
You didn’t get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.
You didn’t get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.
You didn’t get mad when we spent over $600 billion(and counting) on said illegal war.
You didn’t get mad when over 10 billion dollars simply “disappeared” in Iraq.
You didn’t get mad when you saw the Abu Ghraib photos.
You didn’t get mad when you found out we were torturing people & children.
You didn’t get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.
You didn’t get mad when we didn’t catch Bin Laden.
You didn’t get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.
You didn’t get mad when we let a major US city drown.
You didn’t get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark during the Bush years after he inherited a surplus from Clinton.
You finally got mad when.. when… (wait for it… )
You finally got mad when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick.
Republicans, Religion and the Triumph of Unreason
Barack Obama’s presidency has spurred an onslaught of bizarre reactions from the right wing. (Photo: Reuters) How do they train themselves to be so impervious to reality? Something strange has happened in America in the nine months since Barack Obama was elected. It has best been summarised by the comedian Bill Maher: “The Democrats have moved to the right, and the Republicans have moved to a mental hospital.” The election of Obama - a black man with an anti-conservative message - as a successor to George W. Bush has scrambled the core American right’s view of their country. In their gut, they saw the US as a white-skinned, right-wing nation forever shaped like Sarah Palin. When this image was repudiated by a majority of Americans in a massive landslide, it simply didn’t compute. How could this have happened? How could the cry of “Drill, baby, drill” have been beaten by a supposedly big government black guy? So a streak that has always been there in the American right’s world-view - to deny reality, and argue against a demonic phantasm of their own creation - has swollen. Now it is all they can see.
