South Carolina Democrats Kick Ass on January 26th

What a great time to be a Democrat in South Carolina. Saturday January 26th was a day of renewal for our party, with more than 532,000 fine folks voting in the South Carolina Democratic Presidential Primary. Turn out in the Democratic primary surpassed the Republican turn out this year by more than 86,000! The headlines in The Greenville News on Sunday were almost too good to be true, “Massive Democratic Vote Reverses GOP’s Dominance,” “Primary May Give New Life to Palmetto Democrats.” I had to read those twice to make sure I could believe my eyes. Democrats kicked ass on Saturday and the Republicans better take notice. The GOP is beat down and their field of potential Presidential nominees hasn’t even begun to duke it out yet! Primary day apparently went smoothly despite the massive turnout and best of all the turn out truly represented all of South Carolina. By all accounts the voters who turned out were a diverse crowd, all races, both genders and lots and lots of young people and disaffected voters. How refreshing to see in our state.

Obama Wins South Carolina-SCETV Election Night Politics

So…one week later here we are back in the studio of SCETV…Obama is the projected winner minutes after the polls closed. I kinda thought that Obama would win but I thought it would be closer than this. I think this racial politics deal is a topic invented and nurtured by the main stream media and the Republican Party, who both have no freaking idea what Democratic Party members really think, they just make it up as they go along.

McCain Wins SC Primary-Where Do We Go From Here?

So…it’s 9:15pm and it looks like John McCain finally gets a win in South Carolina’s Republican Presidential Primary. All he had to do was forgo his integrity, kiss George W. Bush’s ass and be willing to play the POW card at every opportunity. Don’t get me wrong, yes, I respect McCain’s service to our country and the fact that he was imprisoned and tortured while in service to our country but I liked and respected him when he was unwilling to use his military service and his stay in a prisoner of war camp for political gain. It’s kind of like calling the media every time you give a significant gift to charity.

If McCain trudges on to victory on Super Tuesday and manages to win the GOP nomination, I say this sets up a clear choice for voters in November. A vote for McCain means more war in Iraq and more lives lost to a futile cause and a vote for the Democratic nominee means an end to a pre-emptive war that never should have happened. The Democratic Party is poised to make history by nominating the first female or the first African American as our presidential nominee. All of our candidates on the Democratic slate are strong, articulate, seasoned and well prepared to take on the leadership of our nation. I’m proud of the campaigns that have been waged thus far and look forward to moving on to victory in November!
